Believe it or not, the business of spamming is really just business. In the end, it's all about economics, and reality is making those economics increasingly unattractive. The spam business model, which works when even a tiny percentage of people respond to a huge email blast, is running out of steam. Spam filters are getting better, and legislation is raising the cost of doing email correctly. It's even possible that spam has peaked, and has nowhere to go but down.
